U&T invests in usability.
The results are right in front of you.

Our website has undergone some radical changes.
A new design for a more “ergonomic” experience. And numerous case studies to highlight the communication strategies that have helped create successful brand images.

The user’s needs before all else.

When we visit a site we want information as quickly as possible with the least cognitive effort. That is why our site gets right to the point. We have conducted tests to perfect the surfing experience, making the site immediately intuitive: form is at the service of content, and not the other way round.

An example: acronyms or technical terms are underlined with dotted lines. If you move over them with the mouse the cursor turns into a question mark, followed straight after by a caption explaining the meaning of the term.

Usability and accessibility, a valid investment.

The U&T website has been built using Web Standards compliant technology. These technologies, separating structure (Xhtml) from presentation (Css), make it possible to:

  1. reduce development and maintenance costs;
  2. ensure compatibility with different navigation devices (computers, mobile phones, printers, TV, etc.). Each device will have its own stylesheet (Css);
  3. improve search engine results;
  4. lighten pages: users can “surf” more quickly and businesses can save on bandwidth costs for the transmission of web pages.
  5. make contents available to those with physical limitations. Italian law 4/2004 protects the right of less-abled persons to access information contained on the websites of public administrations.

An example: if you print out the pages of our website you will see some differences compared with what appears on the screen. The characters appearing on PC monitors for instance are grey-coloured so as not to fatigue the viewer’s eyes, whereas printouts are in black to give the best definition. All navigation elements are removed from the printed page. And since coloured backgrounds increase ink consumption and printing times, they too have been eliminated.

A resource to share.

The first move was ours, but this is just the beginning. Yours views and suggestions will be invaluable for improving our website, which we hope can become a shared resource for those operating in the communication sphere.

Enjoy your surfing experience with us!
